StatementCheap

About StatementCheap

StatementCheap turns PDF bank and credit card statements into Excel, CSV, QuickBooks, Xero and OFX files, and checks every conversion against the statement's own balances. It is run by Creative Current LLC, a company registered in New Mexico, USA.

Who runs StatementCheap?

StatementCheap is operated by Creative Current LLC, a limited liability company registered in New Mexico, in the United States. Creative Current LLC is the company you deal with when you buy pages or a plan, and it is the "controller" named in our privacy policy.

StatementCheap is independent. It isn't owned by or affiliated with any bank, or with Intuit (QuickBooks), Xero or Microsoft.

What does StatementCheap do?

It reads a PDF statement and gives you one row per transaction, with the date, description, signed amount, running balance and check number. You can download the result as:

  • Excel (.xlsx), with real dates and numbers and a summary sheet
  • CSV, with one amount column or separate debit and credit columns
  • QuickBooks: a .qbo Web Connect file or the 3-column CSV
  • Xero CSV
  • OFX and QFX

It works with statements from any bank in any country, including scanned statements. Each file can be up to 200 pages and 25 MB.

Before you download, we check the result against the statement. The opening balance plus money in minus money out has to equal the closing balance, and printed running balances are checked row by row. Our accuracy page explains the check and publishes our test results.

We also offer free bank file converters (QFX to QBO, QIF to QBO, CSV to OFX and more) that run entirely in your browser.

Why is it so cheap?

Because reading one statement page with AI costs us about a quarter of a cent (around US$0.0025), we can charge under 1 cent a page on our larger plans and still run a sustainable business.

Statement converters have traditionally charged 6 to 30 cents or more a page. Some of that cost came from older OCR software, per-bank templates and manual review. We read statements with open AI models that Cloudflare hosts on its Workers AI platform, on the same network that runs the site. There are no per-bank templates to maintain, and the product does one job.

What happens to your files?

Your statement is processed in memory and not stored by StatementCheap. The converted rows go back to your browser and are not kept on our servers.

  • What we keep: only metadata about each conversion (page count, date, and whether it reconciled), for billing and abuse prevention.
  • Who reads the file: AI models running on Cloudflare Workers AI. Under Cloudflare's Workers AI data-usage commitments, inputs and outputs are not retained after the response is delivered and are not used to train models. No third-party AI company, such as OpenAI or Google, sees your files.
  • Other providers: Stripe handles payments (we never see card numbers), Resend sends login codes and receipts, and Cloudflare hosts the site.
  • In transit: all traffic is encrypted with HTTPS.
  • Free tools: the bank file converters never upload your file at all. They run in your browser.

We don't run ads, use analytics or advertising trackers, or sell data. The full details are in our privacy policy.

Who uses it?

StatementCheap is built for people who turn statements into spreadsheets or books: bookkeepers, accountants and tax preparers, mortgage brokers and lenders, lawyers working on divorce, discovery or fraud matters, small business owners, and anyone with a one-off pile of old statements.

How can you contact us?
