How to download your Bank of America statement as a PDF
In Online Banking, hover over "Accounts" and select "Statements & Documents", then use the drop-downs to choose the account and year. In the mobile app, open the "Menu", go to "Statements and Documents", and pick the account and year the same way. Statements download as PDFs.
Can Bank of America export Excel or CSV directly?
Bank of America's credit card help says Online Banking lets you request up to 12 months of detailed transaction information and download transactions for use with financial management software. For business credit cards, its tax FAQ describes clicking the "Download" link on the "Activity" tab, filling in a custom date range, choosing a file type and clicking "Download transactions". Small business accounts can also use Web Connect, which downloads a chosen transaction period that you then import into QuickBooks Desktop. To download account information for QuickBooks, Bank of America says you need QuickBooks Online or QuickBooks Desktop 2018 or later. For older periods, or when someone asks for the statement itself, use the PDF.
What a Bank of America statement looks like
Bank of America's sample checking statement opens with an "Account summary" that runs from "Beginning balance on" the start date through "Deposits and other additions", "Withdrawals and other subtractions", "Checks" and "Service fees" to "Ending balance on" the end date. The period prints as a range, such as "for July 31, 2019 to October 24, 2019". Its statement guide notes that the ending balance already reflects the subtraction of service fees. Each statement lists canceled checks by check number, amount and date posted, and electronic statements add an image of the front of each check. Accounts with identical ownership can share one combined statement, where CDs may appear as a summary.
Tips for converting Bank of America statements
Bank of America keeps copies of your statements for up to 7 years, but its help pages differ on how many you can open straight away. If a month isn't listed, request it: online copies are free and take a day or two, so start early if you need a long history. Personal, business and credit card statements all work with the converter.
