How to download your CommBank statement as a PDF
In the CommBank app, tap "Accounts", choose the account, then "Manage" and "View statement", choose the statement date and tap "Share" to email or print it. In NetBank, select the account from NetBank Home and choose "Download latest statement" or "View all statements", pick the financial year, tick the statements you want and click "Download (PDF)".
Can CommBank export Excel or CSV directly?
The new NetBank exports transactions in CSV only; CommBank says exporting in OFX and QIF formats is no longer available. CommBank's export help says the file includes the date, the amount (debits show as negative numbers), the transaction details and the account balance at the time of each transaction. NetBank shows up to two years of transactions, for open accounts and accounts closed within the last two years, while statements go back up to seven years. For anything older than two years, or when a lender or accountant asks for the statement itself, download the PDF.
What a CommBank statement looks like
CommBank's credit card statement guide describes a statement summary with your opening balance, new transactions and charges, payments or refunds, and closing balance for the period, plus the statement period, credit limit and available credit. The payment summary shows the amount owing (the closing balance), the minimum payment and the due date. The transactions section is an itemised list of the period's transactions, including any interest charges and fees. The statement also lists merchants you pay regularly. Cards with a SurePay instalment plan get a different layout that adds payment options and plan details such as interest rate, term, balance and monthly instalment.
Tips for converting CommBank statements
NetBank lets you tick several statements in a financial year and download them together; upload each PDF separately so each gets its own balance check. Australian statements write dates day first; the Excel and CSV downloads use unambiguous dates, so day and month won't be swapped.
What you get
- Excel with real dates and numbers you can sort, filter and total, plus a summary sheet.
- QuickBooks: a .qbo Web Connect file or the 3-column CSV for bank uploads. See PDF to QBO.
- Xero CSV, OFX/QFX for Quicken and other tools, or plain CSV.
- A reconciliation check: opening balance + money in − money out = closing balance.
Converting a lot of statements every month? Plans start at $9/month for 500 pages.
