How to download your Barclays statement as a PDF

In the Barclays app, tap "Help" or "More" on the home screen, then "Statements". Business customers can tap "Statements" on the home screen. In Online Banking, Barclays' help points to "Manage accounts" and then "Statements and documents" (an older help page describes "Online Statements" in the drop-down under your name). Save the statement with the PDF icon.

What a Barclays statement looks like

In our check, Barclays doesn't publish a sample current account statement, but its help explains the abbreviations used on its statements. BBP is a bill payment, BGC a bank giro credit, CRE a credit payment, DDR a Direct Debit and STO a standing order. REV is a reversal, where a standing order or Direct Debit has been recalled, REM is a cheque paid in somewhere other than your own branch or bank, and UNP means unpaid. DR marks a debit balance, meaning the account was overdrawn, so check that the minus sign carries into your spreadsheet. Barclays also notes that your IBAN is shown on the statement.

Tips for converting Barclays statements

Barclays says you can view Online Statements for up to 7 years while the account is open. Barclaycard credit cards are managed through Barclaycard's own app and website, and their PDF statements convert the same way.

What you get

  • Excel with real dates and numbers you can sort, filter and total, plus a summary sheet.
  • QuickBooks: a .qbo Web Connect file or the 3-column CSV for bank uploads. See PDF to QBO.
  • Xero CSV, OFX/QFX for Quicken and other tools, or plain CSV.
  • A reconciliation check: opening balance + money in − money out = closing balance.

FAQ

Can I get statements for a closed Barclays account?
Yes. Barclays says that if you still bank with it, a closed account's statements stay available online for up to 5 years. If you can no longer see the account in Online Banking, order copies by phone or in a branch. When you close an eligible current account, Barclays sends up to five years of statements within 10 working days unless you opt out.
How long does a Barclays interim statement take?
You can order an up-to-date statement in Online Banking or at a Barclays cash machine. Barclays says the online copy is uploaded 2 working days after the working day you ask for it. A posted copy goes by 2nd class post and should arrive within five to seven working days.
Can I get weekly or quarterly Barclays statements?
For most current and savings accounts, yes. Barclays lets you choose weekly, monthly, quarterly, every six months or once a year. In Online Banking, select "Profile", then "Communication preferences", "Statements and documents preferences" and "Frequency". Barclays says it will tell you if a product's statement frequency can't be changed.
Can I convert Barclays statements to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF statement from Barclays and download an Excel, CSV, QBO, Xero or OFX file. The first 5 pages every day are free.
Does it work with Barclays credit card and business statements?
Yes. Checking, savings, business and credit card statements all work. The AI reads the layout, so it doesn't depend on a template.
How do I know the conversion is right?
Each result is checked against the statement: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the closing balance, and running balances are checked row by row.
Are my statements stored?
No. Files are processed in memory and the rows go straight back to your browser. We keep only metadata like the page count for billing.
