How to download your Santander UK statement as a PDF

In the Santander app, tap "Mailbox" at the top right, then "Statements and documents", open the statement and tap the download icon to save a PDF. In Online Banking, go to "Statements and documents", choose the document and use the print icon to print or save it as a PDF.

Can Santander UK export Excel or CSV directly?

In Online Banking, open the "My Accounts and Transactions" tab, choose the account and click the "Download transactions" link above the transactions table. Santander's help lists Microsoft Excel, Quicken, Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and Microsoft Money, for a date range or everything "Since last download". Personal accounts are capped at 600 transactions per download (3000 on Santander Business), so a long range may need several files. The "Download to" menu also offers "midata (CSV)": 12 months of current account history, with your name and account number left out and sensitive transactions masked. Santander describes it as a file to upload to comparison sites.

What a Santander UK statement looks like

Santander says a monthly statement runs from the date you opened or transferred the account, for example the 18th of one month to the 17th of the next, not the calendar month. Its sample current account statement, in a 2020 guide still on its site, shows a summary with "Balance brought forward from" the last statement, "Total money in", "Total money out" and "Your balance at close of business", then an "Interest and charges incurred this period" box. The sample credit card statement has an "Account summary as at" page and a "Transaction Details" page with "Date", "Description" and "Amount (£)" columns, dates as DD/MM/YYYY, and fees such as "Late payment fee" on their own lines.

Tips for converting Santander UK statements

Santander UK lets you see account activity from the last 7 years. Current account and credit card statements both convert the same way, with amounts kept in pounds.

What you get

  • Excel with real dates and numbers you can sort, filter and total, plus a summary sheet.
  • QuickBooks: a .qbo Web Connect file or the 3-column CSV for bank uploads. See PDF to QBO.
  • Xero CSV, OFX/QFX for Quicken and other tools, or plain CSV.
  • A reconciliation check: opening balance + money in − money out = closing balance.

Converting a lot of statements every month? Plans start at $9/month for 500 pages.

FAQ

Can I get Santander statements after closing my current account?
Santander says you can get up to 5 years of Payment Transaction History when you close a current account, and you can ask for it up to 5 years after closing. The longer you wait, the less you get: ask 3 years after closing and you get the 2 years before the account closed. Exceptions include accounts closed for fraud or left dormant.
Does Santander charge for a paper copy of a statement?
Santander offers free one-off, monthly or quarterly paper statements on request, but charges for weekly paper statements. To order one, open Chat in Mobile or Online Banking and type "order statement". Paper-free statements can also be downloaded as PDFs, and Santander says its electronic statements no longer carry a watermark and are the same as the posted ones.
Can I convert Santander UK statements to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF statement from Santander UK and download an Excel, CSV, QBO, Xero or OFX file. The first 5 pages every day are free.
Does it work with Santander UK credit card and business statements?
Yes. Checking, savings, business and credit card statements all work. The AI reads the layout, so it doesn't depend on a template.
How do I know the conversion is right?
Each result is checked against the statement: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the closing balance, and running balances are checked row by row.
Are my statements stored?
No. Files are processed in memory and the rows go straight back to your browser. We keep only metadata like the page count for billing.
