How to download your RBC Royal Bank statement as a PDF

In the RBC Mobile app, tap "More" (iPhone) or "Menu" (Android), then "Statements", and choose the account. The last 6 statements show by default, and a dropdown reaches older ones. In RBC Online Banking, open "Statements/Documents" from your Accounts Summary.

Can RBC Royal Bank export Excel or CSV directly?

RBC's help says you can download transactions for spreadsheet software in Online Banking: click "Account Services" in the Account Management box on the right, then "Download Transactions" in the left-hand menu, and follow the on-screen steps. The online activity view shows up to 1000 transactions, and for transactions more than a year old RBC points you to eDocuments, its PDF statements. Some Custom Statements only reach back 18 months. Save the PDFs before you close an account: once it's closed, its eDocuments can no longer be viewed, and the PDF carries the opening and closing balances the converter checks against.

What a RBC Royal Bank statement looks like

RBC's sample chequing eStatement, an older example linked from its eStatements page, starts with "Summary of your account for this period": opening balance, "Total deposits into your account", "Total withdrawals from your account" and closing balance. Then "Details of your account activity" lists Date, Description, Withdrawals ($), Deposits ($) and Balance ($). Dates read like 15 Mar, with no year, appear once per day, and the balance is printed only after a day's last item. Each account gets its own eStatement, not a combined one. RBC's credit card statement guide shows transactions grouped by card number, payments and refunds as negative amounts, and the new balance worked out in a "Calculating Your Balance" section.

Tips for converting RBC Royal Bank statements

RBC keeps up to 7 years of eStatements, but only for accounts that have been switched to electronic statements. Amounts stay in Canadian dollars in the converted file.

What you get

  • Excel with real dates and numbers you can sort, filter and total, plus a summary sheet.
  • QuickBooks: a .qbo Web Connect file or the 3-column CSV for bank uploads. See PDF to QBO.
  • Xero CSV, OFX/QFX for Quicken and other tools, or plain CSV.
  • A reconciliation check: opening balance + money in − money out = closing balance.

FAQ

Can I still get RBC eStatements after closing my account?
No. RBC says that once an account is closed you can't access any of its eDocuments, and the account disappears from Online Banking within 30 days. RBC's advice is to download and save any eDocuments you may need before you close the account.
Why can't I find an older RBC statement in Online Banking?
RBC only shows statements for accounts switched to electronic documents. When you switch, at least one previous statement appears straight away, and new ones are kept for up to 7 years. For a copy of an earlier chequing or savings statement, send a secure message through the Online Banking message centre or call RBC at 1-800-769-2511.
Why does my RBC credit card statement show two dates for each transaction?
Each transaction on an RBC credit card statement shows a transaction date, when the amount was debited or credited, and a posting date, when it was processed on your account. Interest appears as separate lines in the "Credit Card Transactions" section, for example one for purchases and one for cash advances, and is charged at the end of the statement period.
Can I convert RBC Royal Bank statements to Excel?
Yes. Upload the PDF statement from RBC Royal Bank and download an Excel, CSV, QBO, Xero or OFX file. The first 5 pages every day are free.
Does it work with RBC Royal Bank credit card and business statements?
Yes. Checking, savings, business and credit card statements all work. The AI reads the layout, so it doesn't depend on a template.
How do I know the conversion is right?
Each result is checked against the statement: opening balance plus money in minus money out must equal the closing balance, and running balances are checked row by row.
Are my statements stored?
No. Files are processed in memory and the rows go straight back to your browser. We keep only metadata like the page count for billing.
