About MoneyThumb
MoneyThumb is a long-standing name in statement conversion. Its converters turn PDF statements into .qbo files for QuickBooks, spreadsheets and other formats. It also sells a lending-focused platform with fraud detection and cash flow analysis. It's a capable product, and plenty of accountants know it well.
How MoneyThumb prices its converters
From MoneyThumb's QuickBooks converters page as of October 2026 (re-checked October 29, 2026):
| Plan | Monthly | Annual | Conversions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $24.95 | $199.95 | 5 per month, or 60 per year |
| Standard | $49.95 | $399.95 | 20 per month, or 240 per year |
| Pro | $99.95 | $799.95 | 60 per month, or 800 per year |
MoneyThumb counts each monthly statement as one conversion. Reconverting the same file doesn't count again, and unused conversions roll over when the subscription renews. Its separate platform pricing page, aimed at lenders and API users, says plans start at $599.95 per year.
Per statement vs per page
This is the key difference. MoneyThumb charges per statement. StatementCheap charges per page. Which is cheaper depends on your statements.
- Typical statements (3 to 8 pages): per-page pricing wins easily. Five 4-page statements are 20 pages: a few days of our free tier, or part of a $6 pack. On MoneyThumb's Individual plan, that's a $24.95 month.
- Steady volume: sixty 5-page statements a month is 300 pages, which fits StatementCheap Starter at $9 a month. MoneyThumb's Pro plan for 60 conversions is $99.95 a month.
- Very long statements: a busy business account with a 40-page statement counts as one conversion at MoneyThumb and 40 pages here. If most of your statements are that long, do the math for your own mix.
A year of statements, priced both ways
Say you're catching up a small business: one checking account and one credit card, 12 months each, averaging 5 pages per statement. That's 24 statements and 120 pages.
| Option | What you'd buy | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| MoneyThumb Individual, monthly | 5 conversions a month, so about 5 months of subscription | about $125 |
| MoneyThumb Standard, monthly | 20 conversions a month, so 2 months | about $100 |
| StatementCheap page pack | One $6 pack (150 pages) | $6 |
This uses the monthly prices listed above. Your mix of statement lengths will change the numbers, so run your own.
What MoneyThumb does well
- Per-statement pricing, which favors very long statements
- Auto-balance and reconciliation: MoneyThumb says each account in a statement is reconciled separately
- Rollover of unused conversions at renewal
- A direct QuickBooks Online option as well as .qbo files, plus formats like QIF
- Unlimited users on its Standard and Pro plans
- Desktop software options and a lending platform with fraud detection, for those who need them
What StatementCheap does differently
- A real free tier. 5 pages every day, no sign-up.
- Low entry price. $6 for 150 pages that never expire, or plans from $9 a month for 500 pages.
- Row-level balance checks. Like MoneyThumb, we confirm that the opening balance plus transactions equals the closing balance. We also highlight the rows where a printed running balance stops adding up.
- Nothing to install. It runs in the browser.
- No stored files. Statements are processed in memory and not kept on our servers.
Our outputs cover the common destinations: Excel, CSV, QuickBooks (.qbo and 3-column CSV), Xero CSV and OFX/QFX. See PDF to QBO for QuickBooks import steps.
What we don't have
No direct connection to QuickBooks, no API, no team seats, no QIF from the PDF converter and no fraud detection. (Our free in-browser tools can turn a CSV or OFX file into QIF.) If those are must-haves, MoneyThumb may be the better fit.
Bottom line
If your statements are typical length and you want low, predictable costs, StatementCheap will usually cost much less. Run a statement through our free converter and compare, or read QBO vs OFX vs QFX to pick the right file format.
Works with statements from any bank, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Barclays and HSBC.
