How to download your Chase statement as a PDF
On chase.com, open the Main Menu at the top left and choose "Statements & documents", then pick the account and year and click the "Open or Save" icon next to the statement you want. In the Chase Mobile app, tap the Profile & Settings icon at the top right, go to "Statements & documents" in Document manager, then "Statements", and choose the account and year. The statement opens as a PDF you can save.
Can Chase export Excel or CSV directly?
Chase's Spending Planner, which is for Chase checking and credit card customers, has its own download option. Chase says that on a desktop you can download transactions as a spreadsheet (CSV), Quicken Web Connect (QFX), Quicken or Microsoft Money (QIF) or QuickBooks Web Connect (QBO) file covering the last two years. On your phone, the download is a PDF of your transactions for the last calendar year. That window is much shorter than the up to 7 years of statements Chase keeps online, so for older months, or when you need the official opening and closing balances the converter checks against, use the PDF statement.
What a Chase statement looks like
Chase's sample paperless credit card statement opens with an "ACCOUNT SUMMARY" that runs from "Previous Balance" through "Payment, Credits", "Purchases", "Cash Advances", "Balance Transfers", "Fees Charged" and "Interest Charged" to "New Balance". The "Opening/Closing Date" prints as MM/DD/YY - MM/DD/YY, and the first page also carries a "REWARDS SUMMARY". For checking and savings, Chase's deposit account agreement says the statement period may not be a calendar month but is usually 28 to 32 days, with the exact dates printed on the statement. Linked CDs don't get their own statement; their balance appears on the monthly checking statement instead.
Tips for converting Chase statements
Chase keeps up to 7 years of statements online, depending on the account type, which covers most catch-up and tax projects. Checking, savings, Chase credit card and Chase business statements all convert the same way. Download one PDF per month so each statement gets its own balance check.
