Where it fits in your practice

  • Tax season. Clients who don't use accounting software hand over a year of PDF statements. Convert them to Excel and build the schedules from there.
  • Cleanup and catch-up work. Load months or years of history into QuickBooks or Xero when feeds don't reach back far enough.
  • Year-end and reviews. Test transactions, trace deposits and support balances with a sortable list instead of a stack of PDFs.
  • New clients. Get historical data into the ledger without waiting for a client to sort out feed access.
  • Closed accounts. When there's no online access left, the PDF is the only record.

Why the reconciliation check matters for you

Your name goes on the work, so "the converter probably got it right" isn't good enough. Every conversion is checked against the statement itself: opening balance plus transactions must equal the closing balance. You see one of three results:

  • Reconciled: the totals match the statement to the cent.
  • Mismatch: we show the difference and point to the rows where the running balance breaks.
  • Unknown: the statement doesn't print the balances needed to check.

That doesn't replace your review, but it tells you where to spend it. You can build the same test in your workpapers. See how to reconcile a bank statement in Excel.

Outputs

  • Excel (XLSX) for workpapers and analysis
  • CSV for any other tool
  • QuickBooks: .qbo Web Connect file or 3-column CSV. See PDF to QBO.
  • Xero CSV laid out for Xero's statement import. See bank statement to Xero.
  • OFX/QFX for other accounting and personal finance software

Pricing that fits a practice

Most converters built for firms price for big teams with big budgets. We charge per page, and keep it low.

PlanMonthlyAnnualPages per month
Starter$9$90500
Pro$19$1902,000
Business$49$4907,500

For seasonal work, a $6 pack of 150 pages never expires, so you can buy a few at tax time and stop there. Anyone can convert 5 pages a day free, no sign-up. See full pricing.

A rough sizing guide: a typical monthly statement runs 3 to 8 pages. Twenty clients with one account each and a year of statements is roughly 700 to 2,000 pages. That fits in one Pro month, or two Starter months at the smaller end.

Client confidentiality

Here is exactly what happens to a statement you upload:

  • It's processed in memory and not stored by StatementCheap. The converted rows go back to your browser and aren't kept on our servers.
  • We keep only metadata for billing and abuse prevention: page count, date and whether it reconciled.
  • Extraction runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, open models hosted by Cloudflare on the same network that runs the site. Under Cloudflare's commitments, inputs and outputs aren't retained after the response, and customer content isn't used for training.
  • No third-party AI company, such as OpenAI or Google, sees the files.
  • Everything is encrypted in transit over HTTPS.

Check that this fits your firm's policies and any client engagement terms before you upload.

What we don't do

To be clear about scope: we don't connect to banks, we don't categorize transactions, and there's no API or team seats. StatementCheap does one job: turning statements into checked, importable data, at a price that makes sense for small firms.

Working mostly in bookkeeping? See StatementCheap for bookkeepers.

Works with statements from any bank, including Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Capital One, Barclays and HSBC.

FAQ

Can my staff share one account?
We don't offer team seats. Each account signs in with one email address, and pages are counted per account.
Does it categorize transactions for tax schedules?
No. You get clean, checked transactions in Excel, CSV, QuickBooks or Xero format. Categorize them in your own workpapers or in your accounting software.
Which plan should a small firm choose?
Estimate your pages: statements are usually 3 to 8 pages each. Many small firms fit in Starter (500 pages) or Pro (2,000 pages). Seasonal users often prefer $6 packs that never expire.
Do you store client statements?
No. Files are processed in memory and not stored, and the converted rows aren't kept on our servers. We keep only metadata like page count and reconciliation status.
What happens if a conversion is wrong?
The balance check usually flags it. If a conversion is wrong and we can't fix it, we refund those pages.
